The Big Orange

My precious fellow blogger, online and meanwhile real life friend Sushi picked me up from IMATS sometime in the early afternoon on Saturday, as we planned to head to downtown L.A. for our first date. It was such a welcome change, as the past days had been pretty hectic and hanging out with Sushi was so much fun and easy. First she took me to Arcadia for my first rose-flavoured bubble tea ever, which I certainly consider a favourite of mine now. Afterwards we went to Little Tokyo, a - in my opinion - huge area in downtown L.A. entirely devoted to, inspired and created by Japanese immigrants: tons of Japanese restaurants, authentic supermarkets, beauty boutiques and cute decoration as far as the eye can see.

I haven't had ramen since March. March. Hilarious much? As far as I'm aware, Philly doesn't have good/safe/authentic ramen shops. I was starving and longing for those dearest Japanese noodles badly and had multiple foodgasms in the style of Fifty Shades of Grey (yes, I read it. And I recommended it to my mom beforehand and feel like dying of embarrassment now that I've read all three books). Since L.A. doesn't have Ladurée (I still can't believe it), we got a bunch of L'ette macarons that were to die for. They don't differ much from Ladurée taste-wise.

After strolling through most parts of downtown (there really isn't much to see besides Japantown), she took me to Hollywood, where I walked the Walk of Fame up and down in hope to find the star of my most favourite band. Hollywood's a busy place and police offers shut off parts of the avenue because of a movie premiere, so I sort of saw a movie star or rather their limousine (whoever it was, lol).

On Sunday we had breakfast at a nice Greek restaurant in Santa Monica, did little shopping (as in: I bought five more shirts) and drove to Beverly Hills. I didn't know how close Beverly Hills was to Santa Monica, but then again: I don't know a thing about the L.A. area! It was pretty quiet that day, not many tourists on Rodeo Drive and with the sun burning deep into our skins, we found refuge at an In-N-Out. If you're not familiar with In-N-Out, it's - according to everyone I asked - the "best fastfood chain restaurant", which sadly can be found in California only. Call me crazy, but In-N-Out's been on top of my 'Places To Go' list because I knew how hyped it was and wanted to check out whether it lived up to that or not. It did. A lot. I'm hungry, right now. Oh, In-N-Out, what have you done to me?

It was so exciting to meet a person I've known online for so long already, she was one of my first blog readers and yet it took us longest to finally meet. I really can't stop repeating how blessed I am to have this wonderful opportunity to meet all these amazing people from the internet ♥
