The glorious Pacific Gold Coast aka California makes it way too easy to go broke at local surf and hipster shops, especially in Santa Monica and Huntington Beach, where I did most of my shopping. And - oh surprise - not much cosmetics-related, in fact I stocked up on clothes instead, which rarely ever happens, as clothes - to me - are a matter of necessity, neither joy nor making a statement are being associated with it. That's what make-up's for!Als Surfliebhaberin fiel es mir besonders leicht, mein ganzes Geld an der Westküste in Klamotten anzulegen, da sich die Westküsten-exklusiven Surf- und Hipsterboutiquen über Meilen erstrecken und natürlich alle mit dem großen 'Halbjahresausverkauf' locken. Zu meiner großen Verwunderung habe ich wirklich kaum Kosmetik gekauft, sondern mir einen Stapel Bekleidung mit nach Hause genommen, was auch mal wieder dringend nötig war, da ich selten bis nie Mode shoppen gehe. Für mich ist es eine reine Frage der Notwendigkeit, ich sehe Mode nicht als Mittel der persönlichen Entfaltung an. Dafür habe ich Kosmetik!

Since I still didn't quite figure out how to properly photograph clothes, I loyally relied on my iPhone camera, guess I'll never get the knack. As you can tell from the pictures, I got a ton of tank tops, which happen to be everywhere on the West Coast, I hardly ever spotted a person not sporting a cami or tank top.
Da ich immer noch nicht den Dreh raushabe, was Produktfotografie in Sachen Mode angeht, habe ich zu meiner iPhone-Kamera gegriffen, weil ich mir ziemlich sicher bin, dass ich's nie hinkriegen werde. Dafür kaufe ich einfach zu wenig ein, haha. Tank Tops sind stark präsent, da jeder Laden zu 80% diesen Schnitt verkauft (an der Westküste sieht man wirklich kaum jemanden etwas anderes tragen, außer vielleicht in Beverly Hills, Calabasas oder Toluca Lake).
The most 'daring' piece in my entire closet definitely is this grid crop top I purchased at Brandy ♥ Melville's the other day. Technically, I looked for a cute bra I could wear underneath my low-cut tops and honestly was more than just sick of my Wet Seal bustiers, since they lacked the 'special something'.
Das gewagteste Teil meiner gesamten Garderobe ist definitiv dieses als 'bauchfreies Top' angepriesene Oberteil der Marke "Brandy ♥ Melville". Es war meine Mission, ein relativ bequemes und eventuell auch leicht 'niedliches' Objekt dieser Art zu finden, da meine Standardbustiers von "Wet Seal" das gewisse Extra fehlte.
Quiksilver just launched a few new Ke11y prints in honour of one of world's greatest surf champions of all time, Kelly Slater. I kinda collect anything Ke11y-printed by Quiksilver, which is a pretty pricey hobby.
Quiksilver hat vor kurzem ein paar weitere "Ke11y"-Prints zum Verkauf freigegeben zu Ehren eines der größten Surfer aller Zeiten, Kelly Slater. Ich sammle so ziemlich jedes Kollaborationsstück, das man bisher käuflich erwerben konnte, was sich als leicht kostspielige Angelegenheit herausstellt.
With Independence Day being only two more days away, my flag print obsession boiled over. All that's missing in my precious collection are Jeremy Scott's multi-coloured USA flag sneakers for Adidas. The vintage tank is by Brandy ♥ Melville, the sequin top by Victoria's Secret. I usually never shop at F21's (too focused on surf brands), but I made some pretty good deals during sale season, such as this ivory white shirt with its fancy, fringy highlight.

However, being a little obsessive about tank tops, I decided to give it a go and immediately spotted this stamp print, which happened to be on sale as well.
Das erste und letzte Mal, das ich einen Fuß in einen Tokidoki-Laden gesetzt habe, war auf der Berliner Fashion Week 2010, die Designs sagen mir allgemein eher nicht zu, zu chaotisch, zu wild. Da ich ja aber in meinem Tank Top-Wahn war, gab ich der Marke nochmal eine Chance und fand direkt auch diesen Briefmarkendruck, der Teil des Ausverkaufs war.
Blonde me had to forget her A&F hoodie at Mai's. As it was the only 'warming' piece I brought with me to L.A., I frantically looked for a last-minute replacement and found it through this overpriced "Santa Monica"-tagged Quiksilver jacket... in brown. I love it a lot, though, it's comfy and fluffy.
