Very recently, I discovered a notification in my spam folder telling me I won some sort of contest. At first I thought it was yet another "Please claim your prize by sending us $500" kind of e-mail, but the content also pointed out some exact details from a video I once uploaded to my YouTube channel, which could only be known by someone who actually watched it, e.g. a real human being. I replied to them and was shocked and pleasantly surprised to see the owner of the big lens empire ColourVue get back to me. Apparently, I had won a real contest with real prizes and we figured out sort of a gorgeous collaboration. I have a bunch of webshop sponsors, but never has a real lens manufacturer reached out to me (except for that one time where GEO wanted me to sell their products, but that's something completely different). Vor Kurzem fand ich eine seltsame eMail in meinem Spamordner, eine Gewinnbenachrichtigung. Ich dachte mir nicht viel dabei und wollte sie schon zum Rest ins Spamnirvana schicken, als mir bestimmte Passagen in der eMail auffielen, detaillierte Beschreibungen eines meiner Videos, die nur jemand wissen konnte, der es auch gesehen hatte. Also antwortete ich und kippte aus den Latschen, als sich der ColourVue-Chef höchstpersönlich bei mir meldete. Anscheinend hatte ich ihren Wettbewerb gewonnen und so kam es, dass wir nun für gewisse Zeit zusammenarbeiten. Ich kriege häufig Sponsoren-Anfragen von kleinen Onlineshops, aber der Chef einer bestimmten Firma hat sich vorher noch nie bei mir gemeldet.
ColourVue is by far the most popular lens brand, since they don't focus on circle lens only, in fact they're mostly known for their natural-looking lenses one can get from any good optician. In fact, the first pair of coloured lenses I've ever worn was produced by a ColourVue sub-brand. And here I am, six years later, actually working with the brand *tears in my eyes*
ColourVue ist wohl die bekannteste Marke in Sachen Linsen, da sie sich nicht hauptsächlich auf Circle Lenses spezialisieren, sondern eher auf farbige Linsen, die man bei jedem guten Optiker bekommt. So fing es auch damals bei mir an, 2006, als ich mein erstes Paar (grauer!) Linsen kaufte, hergestellt von ColourVue.
They sent me different designs: leopard print cosplay lenses, some that glow in the dark, special effect lenses and well, the Party Green. Just to warn you, in case you easily go insane,: You can't order from the official web site, but they do list shops where you can get their products from and any good circle lens webshop has their lenses in stock as well, it won't be that hard to find them, really.
Sie haben mir diverse Designs zugeschickt: Leopardenmuster-Linsen, solche, die im Dunkeln (bzw. Schwarzlicht) leuchten, Linsen mit Spezialeffekten und eben die "Party Green". Um es schon mal vorweg zu nehmen: Man kann die Linsen nicht auf der offiziellen Webseite erwerben, aber sie listen diverse Shops auf, wo dies möglich ist. Und so ziemlich jeder zweite Circle Lens-Shop bietet die Marke auch an.
All (or most?) ColourVue lenses have a water content of 45%. That's a lot. Really! Common circle lenses range between 38% and 40%, they only differ by 7-5%, but believe me, it's so easy to tell the difference. The higher the water content, the thinner the lens - and the comfort level increases as well. The 'thickness' makes it a little tricky to put the lenses in, though, because they're soaked with lens solution and easily slip off one's finger. Once they're in, they can be worn up to ten hours whereas most circle lenses should be removed by the sixth hour.
Alle (bzw. die meisten) ColourVue-Linsen haben einen Wassergehalt von 45%, was wirklich extrem viel ist. Zum Vergleich: Circle Lenses haben meist 38%-40% Wasser, der Unterschied macht sich einfach krass bemerkbar. Je höher der Wassergehalt, desto dünner die Linse, desto schwieriger kriegt man sie allerdings auch rein, da sie leicht von der Fingerkuppe rutscht. Wenn man's dann aber einmal gepackt hat, kann man die Linsen guten Gewissens bis zu zehn Stunden ausführen, wohingegen Circle Lenses nach maximal sechs Stunden rausgenommen werden sollten.
The Party Green slightly enlarged my eyes, they work best paired with some dramatic lashes. As for colour opacity, they added a pretty shine of sassy green to my natural, oozy green, a welcome change. The Party series, in my opinion, is perfect for people who want to enhance their natural eye colour and some circle lens enlarging fun without looking like an alien.
Die "Party Green" haben meine Iris nur minimal vergrößert, falsche Wimpern helfen in dem Fall gut. Farbtechnisch sollte man ebenfalls nicht viel erwarten, da diese Linsenserie sich gut für diejenigen eignet, die ihre natürliche Augenfarbe dezent intensivieren wollen.
